Open spaces

Buds forming and light lasting longer, longer

In a clearing I wanted to hover,

And the ground covered with forest flowers,

But snow and ice in the shadows cower.

The woods around it make it-it is theirs.

All creatures are awakened in their lairs.

I am too excited to count;

The liveliness includes me well-awares.

And inviting as it is that liveliness

Will be more lively before it will be less-

An emerald canopy of blossoming growth

With creative expansion, nothing to impress.

They delight me with their passages

Between stars-stars human legends have given names.

I have it in me to glow

To surprise myself with my own open spaces
