The River

The River

The river is there; present

Walking and noticing, we hone our powers;-

Everything we see in Nature can be ours;

We have taken our hearts back, a solid boon!

The river that bares her bosom to the moon;

The winds that will whisper in late hours,

And are unfolding now like blossoming flowers;

For this, for everything, we are in tune;

It moves us. Great God! I’m simply

A wanderer with boots outworn;

So I am standing in this pleasant lea,

Have glimpses that make me less forlorn;

Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea,

And hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.

Perception

Perception

I have thought

about our condition.

And

we should think about life.

Few

can say if they will die tomorrow.

Our fate moves in patterns – with our choices.

It can be illuminated; some grasp it.

Ponder this. Be curious. Look.

And don’t forget Athena – with the olive tree.

You can remember others, if you like.

I like to.

Have a walk. Put on a coat.

I’m sure nature will improve your mood.

We all belong to the earth you see.

My understanding is that we have a life.

A wonderful possibility.

Nights

Photo by Helene Møller from Solvik in Bærum municipality in Norway the 26th of September 2026.

Nights

What are nights for?

Nights are when we sleep.

They come, they rest us

Time and time over.

They are to be content in:

Where can we rest but nights?

Oh, solving that question

Brings the guru and the fortuneteller

In their colourful robes

Sitting with their hands perched.

In the Time of Making of Nations

Some people live

True

To themselves

And others

Steadfast stars

Light

Giving hope

And direction

Some people die

Taken

By war

And sickness

Their spirits linger

Still

Inspiring courage

Carving the nation

Presence

Presence

I like being with you with eyes open.

A song

drifting

along the banks.

I followed the echoes

off the path

and

there you were

by the river.

Noticing me.

Wish me a river, you have taught my feet to fly.

Open spaces

Photo by Helene Møller from Brønnøya in Asker municipality in Norway the 7th of June 2026.

Open spaces

Buds forming and light lasting longer, longer

In a clearing I wanted to hover,

And the ground covered with forest flowers,

But snow and ice in the shadows cower.

The woods around it make it-it is theirs.

All creatures are awakened in their lairs.

I am too excited to count;

The liveliness includes me well-awares.

And inviting as it is that liveliness

Will be more lively before it will be less-

An emerald canopy of blossoming growth

With creative expansion, nothing to impress.

They delight me with their passages

Between stars-stars human legends have given names.

I have it in me to glow

To surprise myself with my own open spaces
