The Sparkling Flush
I peered across the Tromøy bay
When Spring was a promise kept
And Summer’s light a runway
The erasure of a debt
The Arendal skyline beckoned me
With the pulse of a heart’s sigh
And all of mankind that could see
Had turned their chin up high
The shore’s soft outline seemed to me
The Century’s muddling through
Her cradle the ever glittering sea
The wind her lover’s woo
The cycle of dust to dust
Was mellowed in a way
And every soul in needs-must
Seemed filled with possibility that day
